Publishing to TikTok

Video and photo posts, per-post settings, and TikTok's own limits.

Post shapes

  • Video: one MP4, MOV, or WebM
  • Photo post: a carousel of up to 35 JPEG, PNG, or WebP images

Limits

LimitValue
Caption2,200 characters, hashtags appended
TitleUp to 150 characters (from the post title, or the start of the caption)
Video sizeUp to 4 GB
Video lengthUp to 10 minutes, but your creator account's own ceiling governs (TikTok grants 3, 5, or 10 minutes per account), and FoPost reads it before publishing
Image size20 MB each
LinksNot supported in posts

Per-post settings

The settings TikTok requires a posting tool to expose:

  • Privacy: who can view the post
  • Allow comments, and for video allow Duet and allow Stitch
  • AI-generated content label
  • Commercial content disclosure: your brand, branded content, or both

TikTok's guardrails

TikTok enforces its own posting pace. Too many posts in a day, or too many still processing, and TikTok refuses with a clear reason; FoPost backs off and the post retries rather than dying. If a video's format is refused, TikTok wants MP4 or MOV with H.264, 3 seconds to 10 minutes.

Deleting

TikTok's posting API cannot delete. Remove the post in the TikTok app; FoPost keeps its record either way.
