Labels

Organise posts by campaign or client, and get reporting for free.

A label is a tag on a post. Campaign, client, content pillar, whatever you organise by.

Two jobs

Filtering. Labels colour the calendar and filter every list, so one campaign can be pulled out of a busy month.

Reporting. Analytics aggregates by label, which is how you get performance for a campaign whose posts are spread across six accounts and three weeks.

The second is the one people discover late. Labelling at publish time is what makes campaign reporting possible, and there is no way to reconstruct it afterwards.

Using them

Create them in Settings → Labels, with a colour. Attach them in the composer, or apply one to many posts at once by selecting them in the post list.

Suggestions

  • One per campaign, so a launch is one line in the roll-up
  • One per client, in a shared workspace, though a workspace per client is a stronger boundary
  • One per content pillar, to see which theme actually earns its slot

Two or three labels per post is useful. Ten is a taxonomy nobody maintains.

Deleting

Deleting a label removes it from posts. The posts are untouched, and their history stays; only the grouping goes.

From code

Labels are in the API, attached at post creation or applied in bulk.
